We are very pleased to welcome Joel Lane of Colorado Springs to our group of installers. Joel will be servicing what we will call the "Mountain" area.
Joel has been a vanagon enthusiast for the last 12 years. He started with a 1987 2wd Westy, did an engine conversion and was hooked. After sampling a variety of engine conversions on his personal Westfalias and Syncros, Joel only became more committed to these special vehicles. Joel now works on Vanagons full time doing Subaru and TDI engine conversions, as well as camper conversions and parts sales at his shop in Colorado Springs, Colorado. He only works on Vanagons at his shop. Joel’s personal van is a syncro with a North American Hightop to be installed. You may have seen his posts on TheSamba under the username Escorial Syncro, or on the Yahoo groups under Joelwesty. Joel can be contacted through his website

Joel has a background in carpentry, welding and metal fabrication, which make him uniquely skilled at installing hightops on vanagons. Having performed the more complicated Westfalia poptop roof conversion, Joel is no stranger to “pulling the lid” on a hardtop vanagon. Custom cabinets, heater installation, 2nd battery installation, even complete camper interior fabrication and installation services are also available.

Joel Lane has decided to evolve his vanagon business in directions that require less physical strain. We have valued and appreciated deeply Joel's involvement with our hightops over the years and wish him and his family well for the future.
We will be distributing NAHT hightops through John Buschmann in Buena Vista Colorado. John will be adding hightopping vanagons to his company, Urabus, Www.urabus.net
